Your frequently asked
questions, our answers
When should I calculate a CCF?
We recommend calculating a CCF at the beginning of your climate journey, once you have reviewed your business strategy and how sustainability will support your future goals and business resilience. It helps your organisation to gain an essential understanding of your emissions hotspots – your biggest opportunities for impact.
What’s the difference between Root’s CCF and CCFs from other providers?
Other CCF providers lack the granularity, actionability, transparency and industry know-how Root offers. Our CCFs are tailored to the F&B supply chain, with industry experts who act as extension of your team, offering in-depth climate consulting and guidance. Our platform enables granular emissions analysis and connects corporate, product, and farm-level emissions in one source of truth, helping you to coordinate departments and plan reduction programmes within your supply chain. Get in touch with our team today to compare your existing CCF provider with Root.
What if I don’t have or can’t collect farm-level emissions data yet?
That’s okay – you can still calculate a CCF with Root. While we recommend collecting emissions data from your farmers for Scope 3.1, we can also use leading emissions factor database secondary values as a standardised fallback until we collect primary data from your supply chain. This is enough to get an estimate of your emissions – although it won’t offer as many insights for future reduction.
Can Root’s CCF be used to set science-based targets (SBTi)?
Yes! At your request, our experts can guide you through the entire process, even handling communications and requests from the SBTi team on your behalf.
Is Root’s CCF compliant?
Yes, our methodology is fully compliant with the GHG protocol, and can be used for SBTi target submissions.
